About Unstuck Photography

Unstuck Photography is Casey K.

I'm based in Poughkeepsie and I shoot dramatic food for restaurants, brands, and agencies — the kind of images that make food feel like it has a point of view before anyone's taken a bite.

The name comes from Vonnegut—in Slaughterhouse-Five, our protagonist Billy Pilgrim becomes “unstuck” in time, experiencing flashes of all his life at once. I view photography in this way—the ability to freeze a moment in time, forever. To capture all of the nuance you might miss in the moment. To create a version, whether on the page or in the mind’s eye, of the world as you wish to see it.

My work tends dark and cinematic: rich shadows, directional light, compositions that earn the space they take up. I've been shooting food for 8 years, and before that I spent my first two decades on Earth doodling, writing, designing, and trying any way I could to capture the moments in time around me in any way I could.

I work out of the Hudson Valley and take projects throughout the region — Westchester, the Catskills, and anywhere else worth a drive. If the story is interesting and the client is serious, I'm available.

When you’re ready to talk about your project, i’m easy to find.
